Breastfeeding Tips

For newly Mommies out there I hope this post will be of great help for all of you out there.

Here are the tips if you are breastfeeding your child:

1. Get comfortable before starting. Sitting upright in an armchair or rocking chair is a common position. Sitting in bed is very okay, as long as your back , shoulders and knees are well supported.
And the baby also should be comfortable with this position.

The most common position for breastfeeding are:

Cradle Hold- The baby's head will rest in the crook of your elbow or on your forearm, and will be supported with you arm beneath her back and your hand on the baby's thigh or bottom.

Football Hold or Clutch Position- The baby lies on his back between your side and flexed arm. The baby's head is supported with your hand , allowing your other hand to hold the breast if necessary.

Side-Lying Position- Learning to nurse your baby lying down is invaluable. The side-lying position is relaxing and can help you get more, much needed sleep. You can use it to nurse your baby at night or to nap-nurse during the day. This position can also benefit for those Mom's who had a cesarean delivery.

2. When experiencing common problems such as swollen breast, nursing is actually the best way to alleviate it. Taking warm to hot showers can also soften your breasts, allowing you to breastfeed more comfortably.

3. Soreness in the nipples can be signal that something is not right and you may need to make a change in technique.
