1.Yellow bumps on your eyelids- It could be a sign that your cholesterol is too high, when you’ve got too much fat in your system, it can cause tiny yellow spots on your upper eyelids. The fix: Get tested to see if your cholesterol’s in the danger zones. Basically, an overall cholesterol above 239, or “bad” cholesterol over 159. Make sure you eat more fruits, veggies and whole grains, and exercise 30 minutes a day. The yellow eyelid bumps may shrink as your cholesterol drops, but if not, a dermatologist can easily remove them.
2. Super-dry lips- It could mean you’re slightly dehydrated, and just need to drink more water, but you could also be getting too much vitamin A. In healthy amounts, vitamin A boosts skin-cell replacement. However, too-high levels can cause severe dehydration, toxicity, and birth defects. The fix: If you take supplements, make sure you’re not taking more than 5,000 IU a day. Make sure you count natural sources for vitamin A, like eggs and fortified milk.
3. Fingernails that turn white when you press on them- All nails turn white when you apply pressure, but if they stay white for up to a minute, you may be low in iron, or even anemic. The fix: Switch to iron-rich foods like salmon and spinach, but don't take an iron supplement without talking to your doctor first.
4. Swollen fingers- You may simply be eating too much salt, but it could also mean a sluggish thyroid, which can lead to heart disease, kidney problems, and glaucoma if it’s left untreated. The fix: Ask your doctor about getting a blood test to check your thyroid.
