Bohol Calamay

I have been asking my family to send me some calamay from the beautiful island of Bohol where I used to live because I had been craving for quite some time now. I always remember that every time my grandma visits my other Uncle from another town she always brought as a couple of calamay on her way back.

For those of you who never tasted a calamay or is not familiar about this sweet delicacy then let me tell you something. Calamay is made of coconut milk, brown sugar and ground glutinous rice. I love to put calamay on my sandwich to replace jams or jellies. Calamay are put inside a halved smooth coconut shells and is sealed by red crepe paper. Well, so far I did not find any at the Filipino store, sigh!
