Let's Celebrate Life, Filipino Style

My spouse and I had a great time this past Saturday after attending a get together birthday party with some Filipina/Filipino friends. Actually, we were invited for lunch at my friend's house but we were never informed that the said event was for this Filipino couple whose wife was celebrating her 88th birthday. I have never seen so many senior citizens people in my life in one event especially the ones that are originally from the Philippines. My bonding with them were cut short though because I was schedule to work that afternoon at four o'clock at my place of work. Anyway, my husband and I really appreciate the invitation and as a matter of fact, my friend Carmen and I are planning to celebrate our birthday together next week with some friends. Hopefully, the plan will be realize on the plan date.

Never Ending Parties!

The month of September have been very hectic for my husband and I. We are invited to several birthday parties including the surprised party for my husband birthday at my in-laws house. The last birthday party that we went to happened last Saturday, September the 28th. My friend invited us for her husband's birthday celebration and I was in-charge for the food and entertainment. I cooked several dishes including Lumpiang Shanghai, Beef Steaks, Chicken Curry and more.

Before heading to the party my good friend Ophelia asked my husband and me to baby sit for their 3 boys who are all our Godson. They needed to pick up their car at the shop so without any hesitation we said yes. We woke up pretty early on a Saturday and we are happy that we are able to help them.

Anyways, my husband and I ended up staying at my other friend's house until eight at night. I sang and dance which I normally do when entertaining my guest. We had so much fun especially that my friend owned a Karaoke machine. Thankfully, everything went well and everyone love my cooking skills and are willing to hire me again for their next occasion.

What about you folks? What were you doing this past weekend?

Oh Mia!

I am really happy to see Baby Mia for the first time at my place of work last week. Her Mom whom I called my big sister brought her and I was very happy to finally see my adopted niece. Here's a picture of me and baby Mia below! Good morning everyone.

Rest in Peace Gabe, We Will Miss You

My heart goes out for the family of my former colleague who passed away this morning from a car accident. Though we don't want to believe that it was his fault but the incident could have been prevented if he did not over speed and crashed into a trailer which causes his car to lit on fire. According to the police report, my friend Gabrielle died on the scene at 1:45 earlier this morning. I am so devastated because he is only 21 years old plus he has a 2 year old daughter who needs him. I am praying that may his soul find peace and may his family get through this sudden death. We will missed you Gabe and till we meet again! You may rest in peace brother!

Big Move!

I am flabbergasted because two of my friends will be moving from Germany and Hawaii respectively to reside here in Texas. They are moving because their husband's will be transferred to one of the many military bases in Texas.

Manang is planning to have a big party once her family has settled in their new house. I am really looking forward to spending time with them. Well, I'll be meeting my other friend in person for the first time when they arrive here from Germany.

I Love My Weekend!

I have been busy for the past few days due to some issues back home in the Philippines as well as preparing and helping my friend for her baby's christening last Saturday. Well, my friend Mrs. B asked me to prepare 200 sticks of chicken barbecue for the said party. Guess what? It took me 3 hours to finish cooking the chicken barbecue. But I am really happy that I was able to help them especially that Mrs. B's son is my Godson.

I've met plenty of Filipinos who are residing here in Texas and working as teachers in our local school district during the said event. The party went well, there's plenty of leftover food that is why I have so much food in the refrigerator. I have chicken afritada, roasted meat (lechon baboy), meatloaf (embutido), steam rice cake (puto) and many more.

How's your weekend everyone?
