When it comes to fighting colds and flu, we’re outnumbered! According to Yahoo News, if you put all the people in the world on one side of a scale and all the bacteria on the other, the germs would outweigh us by more than ten to one! That doesn’t even include viruses! Here's the to do list to fight back:
1. Wash your hands- every chance you get! If you do that and avoid touching your face, you’ll stay sneeze-cough-and sniffle free - even if you are outnumbered.
2. Clean your keyboard- keyboards contain more bacteria than a public toilet seat! Since many people eat at their desks, keyboard bugs have a greater chance of getting to your face and into your body.
3. Wear gloves at the gym- you can encounter cold germs on three out of four pieces of weight-lifting equipment, and half of the aerobic equipment like treadmills and stair masters.
4. Carry your own reading material- Cold and flu viruses can survive on dry surfaces - like those magazines in your doctor’s office - for several days and bacteria like E. coli can live for months. If you can’t resist those back issues of Reader’s Digest, bring some hand sanitizer.
